Cardiff by the Sea

Architect Stuart Resor designed homes in the late 1970's whose core structure was telephone poles that were cantilevered on canyon or hillside floors.

This Cardiff home overlooking the San Elijo Lagoon and Pacific Ocean was originally built in 1979.  It was taken down to all but the poles and structure that held the two main floors, and was reinvented to become a rustic/modern four-level home including a 3,447 square foot main house and guest house.

Features include a custom glass wine cellar, extensive outdoor Ipe wood decking, koi pond, 10 foot pivot front entry door made with rare, exotic purpleheart wood, lift and slide doors, custom metalwork on designer staircase, stone and tile work throughout, and Highline's signature open beam ceiling using blasted Douglas Fir to mesh perfectly with the existing original poles.
